When I found this website I was so happy! I come from a long line of drinkers, blue collar kind, put in a hard days work you have some beers when your done, you fish you drink, fix your house you drink, clean the truck you drink, meet up with in-laws you drink and so on. There is no AA around me at the moment for some reason the meetings vanished. I stop drinking sometimes but not for a long period then I go off the rails Iv even reached out to friends a family and the scary part of that was a dead end road. And even in fear I can’t seem to get things under control. Every morning I say I’m not doing that again but then the days goes on and that little voice says what’s three or four!!

I came from a long line of alcoholism and decided that my bloodline doesn’t define who I am or what I can be. You can buck the trend too!
Stick around and let’s be sober!

That voice will lie to us constantly. The trick is being able to know when those lies are occuring, so that we can do other things to combat them. Just because we have a thought to drink/use, doesnt mean we have to act on it. Having supports help. This forum is a great source of support but meetings are too. I know u said that u dont have any in ur area bit online meetings are pretty good also. The Intherooms app has online AA meetings at various hours if that helps
