Really trying not to give up but it’s so hard
Welcome @pumpkinpie22. TALKING Sober is a great place to stay checked into for the first few weeks. Your brain is still trying to reset and resist so best thing you can do is try to find something to occupy the mind. Seven days is an amazing step and very well done! There are alot of resources on here and a ton of people willing to help and give their advice and experiences. If you ever need anything give a holler!
Not sure why I capitalized talking in my
Reply. Letters are hard. But I’m taking a whack at the acronym so I can understand. Is BPD Bi-polar Disorder?
No BPD is borderline personality disorder but I also have bipolar
It gets easier. You’re past the hardest part, those first three days.
For me, it manifested as agitation and nervous anticipation of a drink that I would not have. Every evening at quitting time from work. I decided to walk, every evening at that time. I’d put on a podcast and go 30, 60, 90 minutes. I’d walk until the feeling passed.
I got through the “white knuckle” period and then it was great.
You just gotta push through.
Thank you for clarifying!
Forgot about walking. Man my first three days I had to have paced my tracks on the floor. Just trying to occupy my mind. Injuries prevent me from walking to far but man can I pace haha.
Welcome Pumpkin Don’t try to bite off more than you can chew. One day at a time. It may have to be one hour at a time in the beginning but you CAN do it. You deserve to have a better sober life. It is hard but it is NOT too hard
Try a meeting people there who will understand were you are. wish you well
