Hello everyone I would like to start a new journey to beating my opioid addiction I’m not 24 hrs in yet but I believe I can do it all things are possible
Welcome, and of course you can do it!
Stay strong and don’t give up. Sober life is a wonderful thing, I wish you the best of luck Carla
This is one of the hardest steps, just deciding to start. You’ve already done something incredibly brave by saying it out loud and reaching out. The next 24 hours might be tough, but you’re not alone. Take it moment by moment, hour by hour if you need to.
Welcome Carla!
Opioid withdrawal was the worst experience for me. What kept me going was knowing I never had to feel that bad ever again. I’m now in my 6th year of recovery, but the memory of those early days is still fresh. Whatever you do, just don’t pick up and you will get to the other side.
Wishing you the best on your journey!
How did you detox was it cold turkey or a program thank youuuuuu sooooooo much for the encouragement
I went to an outpatient detox for 10 days where I was given suboxone and some other meds to ease the withdrawal. It was still hell.
How are you doing @Carla2025?
Keep fighting the good fight. It’s not easy, but definitely worth it.
You got this. I was bad. Like real bad. I did not use anything outside of the home so to speak. The first week is physically a shit show. The second and beyond tends to be more psychological. I am back at day 3 however it’s kinda tricky in that I hold myself to strict accountability. I could dive deeper, but leaving it simple here. I hope you’re well
Anymore it kinda depends if ur actually on opioids/opiates if your doing dope now of days. tranq is known to be in alot of it around where i am. Our clinic lets people bring bags in to be tested and almost all of them had some xylazine or medetomidine. Just be prepared to be uncomfortable for alil while. It all depends on how you want your sobriety to look like . If u wanna dose at a clinic or get subs thats easy way. then you wont withdrawal hardly at all. If you dont care to stay on any maintenance meds then i recommend a fast taper for 10 days or so usually a sub and dividing it up. That was the easiest way i was able to detox years ago from fentynal/heroin. Do you have any plan or just jumping off cold turkey?
I was trying cold turkey any suggestions do you know any suggestions to make the withdrawals a lil smoother
Lots of water. Start with a solid multivitamin and b complex. If you have muscle cramps magnesium helps a lot. I also started attending recovery dharma meetings fairly recently.
Best i would advise tapering with 1 8 or 12mg Suboxone to help wd along for the first few days honestly and taper it. That was how i did it years ago which made it manageable and i was shooting a bun or two a day . Cold turkey is pretty rough way to go through it although manageable its less likely u will stick it out. even with the taper you will still feel some wd but its not as intense. For the first 2 weeks i wouldnt plan on doing much as your not gonna feel like doing much. I took vitamin supplements like emergen-c and probiotics can help gi issues as that lingers for a while too. Sleep is gonna suck for the first month i barely got an hr or 2 a night. It was a month before i got a solid 4hrs atleast a nite. Usually by 3rd week things will start to get better when it comes to physical wd. by now your taper should be finished. . I generally tapered by using 2mg for first 2 days then started to cut that in half each day until i ran out. Shockingly as you go a few days tapering you will be surprised at how little bit of a suboxone can help. Even if u continued using a low dose of Suboxone it will make withdrawal easier to manage when discontinued. The first month expecially the first 2 weeks are gonna be very uncomfortable. You also cant be hard on yourself if u relapse the important part is to keep getting back up and trying . It wont be easy by any means but it will be the most humbling experience of your life managing and living life sober. You could also try an inpatient rehab. some will also detox and monitor your vitals giving you meds that could help some wd symptoms as well. Which is free if you qualify for Medicaid.
What helped me stay accountable was creating a relaps post every time I drank or drugged
I would wait 24hours to post then post my relaps and what happened
I look back on those posts and think what the hell was i thinking
