Organization!

Idk about you guys but with all 3 of my mental “disorders”, a busy busy work life, a busy ass home life, finding time for myself and my mental health, going to the gym, and staying sober… a normal day is just overwhelming af sometimes. Ive really embraced organization and lists. Just wanted to share some cool structures and systems i use.
I use a planner that has a daily gratitude section, a priority section, to do list, hour by hour schedule, meals, water tracking and then a notes section i use for fitness. It helps me keep my WHOLE day organized, neat, and easy to follow.
At work i also have this cute calendar thing for work related stuff, then i copy onto the blank one the work part of my planner. I do find its helpful because i can rearrange things as needed without disrupting the visual organization my planner has. Also theres a section for new or unexpected tasks.
I then have this weekly one at home. This is more for groceries, shared information and important dates and times that apply to me and my fiance. Plus i color code snd stuff too lol
I know it seems like doing a lot but some extra time at the start of my day, to have my day flow nicely and be less chaotic is SO worth it for me. Plus I’m very antsy and the process of writing it all and organizing it as actually kind of relaxing and makes me happy. If anyone wants to know what any of these are or where i got them please let me know!!!

Though I could totally not do that, I admire people who do/can.
I work with someone who does and it really pays dividends for them.
You’re very organised at being organised.

Hi @Klh1998, thanks for sharing, I love this!

On top of your calendar-based organization, there’s another one that I like, it’s called a Kanban board. In its simplest form, it looks like this:

I personally also have a ‘blocked’ column for items that are awaiting someone else to progress, i.e. when I am waiting for someone to call me back.

For me, the advantages of a Kanban board over a calendar are:

  1. You don’t need to rewrite tasks you did not complete earlier on, they just stay in the ‘to do’ column until you have the bandwidth to pick them up.
  2. For those that struggle with focus, you can set yourself a limit to the amount of tasks you can have in the ‘doing’ column. This forces you to complete tasks before taking on new ones.
  3. You can easily see which activities are blocked and follow up on them so they can be completed.
  4. You get an enormous sense of achievement from seeing the ‘Done’ column fill up!

The disadvantage of a Kanban board is that it’s not time bound, so it’s less effective for tasks that have a clear deadline.

Hope that helps, organization is key!
