You guys are so incredibly amazing. Pornography/lust addiction is SO INCREDIBLY HARD to fight in this day and age since it’s literally everywhere- I believe it’s harder to quit than substances like alcohol and drugs because all you have to do is open your phone and there it is. My husband is over 4 years sober from pornography and over a year clean of nsfw content (because remember, content like thirst traps do the same thing to the brain that porn does). You got this :flexed_biceps:t2::flexed_biceps:t2::flexed_biceps:t2::flexed_biceps:t2::flexed_biceps:t2: I’m proud of you!!!

After 25 days clean, I made the mistake of hopping on YouTube to catch up with some documentaries and soccer highlights. Then short videos started popping up, leading to a relapse to masturbation, albeit without porn.

I’m back to square one.

Deep down, I don’t feel like I have failed much, and it’s really not eating me up after having been clean for all those days. I guess it’s because the beginning of the chain reaction is quite very obvious and no porn was involved. But I understand that NSFW content activates the same neural pathways as those activated by porn. Therefore, neurologically, NSFW content and porn are one and the same.

I will restart the timer.

I’ve made peace with the fact that this is a lifelong battle. It will never go away.

We never give up.

Proud of you for admitting that you messed up and owning it. That’s a huge step. Onward and upward from here!

I HATE that all forms of social media are super consumed by NSFW content and that there’s nothing that you can do about it :face_with_steam_from_nose:

I appreciate your words. Indeed, social media has become a cesspool of NSFW content. Speaking of which, it was a very sobering moment when I realized I was so broken that I had to quit it just to keep my addiction at bay. It helps me appreciate how different we are: that there are folks who are able to daily navigate the platforms without being triggered to watch porn.

I masturbated for the first time in 137 days, almost certainly the longest I have gone since I discovered masturbation. I do not view this as a relapse for myself, it is something I had discussed with my psychologist and my wife, and we all agreed was okay and even encouraged with transparency. There was no porn use, not even thoughts of it, purely thinking about my wife which I am happy about.

In saying that, I am not sure that I feel good about myself or the act of masturbation. It has re-opened fears of relapse, fears of inability to control myself and fear of an inability to do anything enjoyable in moderation.

I know a lot of people here swear of all PMO, wondering anyone has experience in their journey of reintroducing MO without the porn? Personally I’ll be doing some reflection on how I feel, and will discuss with my psychologist at our next appointment.

I am no porn but allow for MO. It’s definitely something we need to be mindful about. I have dealt with a lot of shame around the subject of my body and the act.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m gonna do a good job of dealing with your fears around the subject. That does require careful work with the appropriate sponsor or therapist. Not an ideal topic for a forum of unqualified addicts.
