Wow, that unlocked a memory :sparkles: My parents had a couple of those I liked to play with. Don’t think I ever used them for their intended purpose

I found it at my Mom’s house and have no idea how to use it. I’m giving it to my almost 80 year old father-in-law who still works on big computers. I bet he knows how to use it.

Oh, almost guaranteed :+1: My dad’s 79 too and knows all about so many weird gadgets from the past. Pretty cool stuff really :smirk:

My class was the last one at my high school that was required to know how to use a slide rule before we were allowed to use calculators.

We are not always aware, at the time, of what we trade off for convenience.

My Mom talked about how hard they were to use and in the same breath wouldn’t let us use calculators at home. We did all of our ciphering on paper. I’m grateful for that. I can do math.

Sis went to the same grammar school I did but actually finished it. School tradition is a trip to Rome for the fifth graders in autumn. As it happened she was in fifth grade in 1978. And I collected stamps. She got it as a gift for my 13th birthday as papa Wojtyla was elected pope when she was in Rome.
