Ya and we just found out we need to get the dogs Flu shots
They recommend it since we are boarding them at a kennel in October. Funny, I never heard of that before until your post the other day. Influenza can be spread easily at a kennel. Better safe than sorry.
My new friend. I’m happy to have had this experience as the hedgehog is an endangered species in the Netherlands. I held him in my hands for a while and examined how it looked. Probably a once in a life time experience
I wonder if it is new. Did you ask them and it’s not the same as kennel cough? For sure better safe than sorry. They are my children lol
No it’s different. It’s the flu. It’s kind of rare. There was some in Cali awhile ago but it isn’t very prevalent right now. But as people travel around here you never know. We are right off of highway 40 it’s a pretty big interstate lots of tourist this time of year coming and going. People drop their pets off to go explore the mountains around here. It’s easily transmissible through saliva and coughs and sneezes. So, only because we are boarding them for our Texas trips we are doing it. Otherwise, since we are all pretty antisocial we wouldn’t have to do it. Yep. They are our kids now too.
Please tell me you named him Sonic
Oh my, how could I have missed it
I might have posted it before but scrolling thrue pics today couse of missing here I’d felt like dropping this one ,
My swagger dog
Miss Lupe is one part stressed out (new environment and lots of coming and going of her human pack mates) but at least 3 parts loving this vacation and first visit ever to Grandma/Abuelita and Grandpa/Abuelito’s house. She did amazingly well in the car for 10+ hours, and hasn’t been on a drive that long since we moved cross country. Much more relaxed this time. She got to prove she’s grown out of her aggression toward other dogs (it was possibly just possessiveness of her late brother Chucho) when she met my SIL’s ancient girl dog, got to show she can follow directions well and learn to not jump on the furniture ( shocking!!) got to love up on a sweet two year old baby girl (my niece), got loose and got beat up by the neighbor’s Tom cat and then chased him up a tree and met all the neighbor dogs before we lured her back with a ride in the car, has gotten to enjoy this amazing screened in porch and two long walks everyday with new smells and sounds and the most pleasant neighborhood I’ve spent time in in a long time. Most of all, she’s gotten spoiled rotten and loved on big time. She doesn’t seem to miss her papa, who’s off camping, but I’m sure she will be delighted to see him when he gets back tomorrow. She’s been such a good girl on this trip, she’s impressed us all. Who says old dogs can’t learn new tricks?!
And for those who read dog body language: Maya was learning how to pet a doggie gently and learned fast after this tutorial, while Lupe was anxious to sniff her and make her rounds to all the people in the room. Soon after this Lupe gave Maya the “pit bull head butt” if any of you are familiar, basically put her head down and leaned it on Maya to say “I love you.” It was the sweetest moment! All was well.
