How big is that boat? 35ft? It’s breaking because you’re on a deep reef?
36 foot boat. We are close to the beach. The breaking line was a few hundred yards inside of us. We watched it for a while before attempting to grab a pot. We went in and pulled on one. It was stuck. We aborted and hung out for a minute and went back to get the buoy and tag so we could put it on another pot and get it fishing.
As we approached the buoy this wave popped up on the horizon.
Its near a river mouth. The river delta makes the surf unpredictable here.
I had watched those videos the last time you posted. Chilling stuff. I’ve been in some hairy situations myself in 16 to 26ft boats on Lake Superior. Nothing close to this though. Riding rapid fire 8 footers in a 16ft boat gets the adrenaline up.
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug! This was both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time! I sometimes wonder if fishing is another form of alcoholism.
My buddy matt coming back there ready to fight another wave to protect me as I pulled the runaway rope back on the boat brings a tear to my eye.
I didn’t want the rope getting caught in the prop.
Wow! That’s scary!
Same!!! I’m dying to go dancing under the stars, with those warm summer breezes and hear my favorite artist live again!!
Ugh I so need this. Is it like this all year?
Pretty much; gets too hot in summer but the water temperature is in the 80s then…
Donna we live in paradise weather wise in comparison to the rest of the world… I was just laying out under the palm trees this morning in the sun looking up and thinking gosh I love our city

Awe… your sweet. I think I’d rather be walking on the beach than falling on my ass on the ice . But it does make for a pretty pic. I need to get to my bird feeders tomorrow.
