It tries to detect your username from the community, but it’s not always correct. If you change it and Apply it (which you can’t do right now due to the issue you’re experiencing), it will stop doing that.
As for the issue, it seems there was a problem with the subscription process for you due to Apple sending data that was formatted differently than what was expected. I’ve updated the subscription system to handle this better, so it should work now.
You can do the following to resync your subscription to the app:
Completely close Sober Time
Open Sober Time again
Wait 60 seconds
Go to Premium: Main Menu > Premium
If Premium page does still not recognize your subscription, continue with the steps below:
Tap on the Restore button in the top-right, then Find
Sorry about the visibility - not sure what’s causing that.
Yes, you’re on the Legacy Premium, which means you bought it before there was a subscription. You keep your benefits, but you don’t get community perks. To get it, you need to subscribe Yearly or Monthly.
@Robin It’s fixed now!!! Thank you so much I knew you would be able to figure out the web of Apple B.S. haha. Thank you SO MUCH for all you do. Honestly, it is so very appreciated.
@Robin I just subscribed for the annual premium thing. I payed something monthly and bought premium years ago if I remember correctly. So I cancelled my patron budget and subscribed via Google pay. Now all status are lost and I have to begin from scratch. Is there a way to circumvent this?
I’m not sure I quite understand what you mean by this:
Now all status are lost and I have to begin from scratch
Do you mean that you lost your Patron title and flair? They are currently active.
Or do you mean that your addiction data is gone? Premium doesn’t affect that in any way.
Edit: I heard from the other moderators that you were referring to your Regular status, which is Trust Level 3. When you get Community Perks, the system will automatically set you to Trust Level 2, so you might be temporarily demoted until the system realizes you should actually be on Trust Level 3 and puts you back. It’s fixed now and you’re back where you belong
This is a slightly different question, but will this subscription ever be available through different payment means than Patreon, such as SubscribeStar (or whatever other subscribe options might be out there). I personally rarely use Patreon and don’t use SubscribeStar (or any other subscribe options) at all, but I was discussing this app with someone the other day and they raised this question, so I figured that I’d ask.
Hmm? I think, unless you’re grandfathered in like I am, that optional monthly contributions are no longer done through Patreon. All is now done through your respective app ecosystem. Robin notes above, he may actually have to remove the Patreon part in the future. More details in his original post linked in the OP.
I think you’re like me though and may be a Patreon contributer who also did the one time purchase? I haven’t fiddled with switching to the new system myself and still have a monthly Patreon donation.
I am still with patreon, yes. I haven’t changed anything so I’m still playing the same monthly. If I have to change and pay through google play then I’ll have to stop paying at all because I wont do subscriptions through google play nor iOS. I make an exception for TS with Patreon, but I don’t have much to do with Patreon either.
There are other subscription services like patreon (not through google play or apple), but I don’t use them; however, I know people who do. I must have missed the part where I won’t be able to continue to give to TS through Patreon in the future. To be fair, it’s been a few months since I read this main post and meant to get back to it.
I will continue to let my monthly subscription continue as it has over the last few years until I can no longer pay through Patreon. I’ll be disappointed not to be able to contribute to this app in the future, but I suppose that’s how these things go.
I totally understand and I think Robin should do what is best for the forum. I don’t begrudge that at all. I had already purchased the one time in app amenities long ago and I really don’t care about any perks or what not when it comes to giving monthly–I just want to support something I care about, even when I’m not using it as much. I would be willing to move somewhere that wasn’t Google Play or Apple Pay, but again that’s just how things go sometimes.
However, that does, indeed, answer my question about other places (such as the aforementioned SubscribeStar, and other services). Thank you.
Edit: Okay, I’ve just looked back over everything and it seems that I can still remain with Patreon and continue to pay 5USD a month. I had already purchased the premium app via google pay long ago, and I would prefer to continue to pay the 5USD/month (through patreon), which is 60USD/year. I’m aware that is twice what signing up year by year elsewhere would be, but I’m donating to support something that matters–and something that I believe makes a difference. I will continue to do this until it is no longer an option. If other options that aren’t through Google Play or Apple become available in the future, I’ll take a look at them.
Awesome! Glad I read this and subscribed through Apple before doing it through Patreon! I’m brand new but can already see the benefits. While I understand premium membership fees add up for users when they use multiple apps for multiple aspects of their lives, it also adds up for the creators and moderators, too, and anyone even a tiny bit involved in moderating, creating, managing apps knows the time and expenses incurred and how immense this can be. It also adds up very fast. Happy to be able to be a premium member for only $30 a year! To me, this is beyond reasonable as many other apps similar but often with many fewer features charge a LOT more. Thank you to all who are making this app possible and supporting recovery!
