Preparing for a wedding

I am currently on my way to a good friend’s countryside wedding in France. I am really looking forward to it and so happy for her its finally happening.
As much as I am looking forward to having a good time, I am also aware, that a 4 day festivity with lots of delicious food and regional wine could possibly be tough to be around at some point. It’s such a huge part of the French lifestyle. I thought it’s good to have a place to check into, should temptation be too strong.
So I am creating this threat as a precaution and for accountability reasons. I already told my friend I won’t be drinking and will be checking out the kids drinks first thing in the morning. Planning on checking in on here at least twice a day around the dinners. Better safe then sorry.

Sounds like fun P.
Great idea have a place to check in while your there.

When I was in France visiting some vineyards with friends it really wasn’t so bad asking for water and taking pics of all the beautiful surroundings. It really didn’t matter that everyone was tasting wine. And I came on here often just to check in and know you all were here for me.
We got your back.
Have a good sober time of it all.
:pray:t2::heart::hugs:

I’m a little jealous! 4 days in a gorgeous location and sumptuous food :smiling_face:
The stuff in a glass doesn’t change that, enjoy the rest and as previously mentioned getting some photos would be a great way to spend your time, we would love to see what you capture over the 4 days.

Yeah it’s not so bad, I’m french, from a winemaker family and I can have a lot of fun with my family without any alcohol :smirk:
Actually I just come back from a big cousinhood in my hometown, 3 days, wine consumption was way over the top, but I had a lot of fun. When I was bored of the drunk people, I was with the teenagers, having fun :wink:
Have a nice french trip!

Great idea to get the support. I will be doing this too the next time I go somewhere thwt may be challenging. Thank you for doing this and reaching for support, as youre also showing others (me) the way…the tools in the tool belt. Wishing you nothinf but an amazing time. Keep your glass full of other stuff, and if the drinking is too much or you feel uncomfortable we are here and its okay to have your exit planned just in case. Have a beautiful time. Xo.

Understand the thoughts although not on same scale i went to a friends wedding sober first thing that happened after ceremony was free drinks being served by staff so every 2 mins i had a bottle of corona shoved in my face :laughing: i got really moody cause i couldn’t have a drink and almost let it spoil the day but then igot talking to a friend who recently recovered from a brain tumour operation and he had had his check up and basically was told that in 10 years he would lose alot of brain function and in 15 be lucky to still be with us , yet he was having a good time saying he wanted to enjoy what time he does have . It really made me look at myself and from that point i threw myself into the day sober and got to say i had the best time , i enjoyed the food i danced and best thing next day i remembered it all with no hangover or regrets. So go enjoy yourself and remember you can do it and people will be here if u need them.

Had a great day, filling up on Orangina :tangerine:, taking an educational hike with bride and groom and reconnecting with old friends. No cravings, no temptation today.

Checking in a little bit anxious but sober. It’s a large trilingual wedding with people from all over the world. It gets busy and loud at times, but is so much fun to see how everyone is trying to understand and be understood. Took some me time before the large BBQ tonight and went for a hike on my own today. Silence of the forest is what I needed a but of. Got into a rain shower and found refuge at this little chapel :point_down: to wait it out. Had a fantastic view from the top after.
