I agree and love your post! Thank u for sharing. I have quite a few friends who are transgendered and identify as a woman. They have shared their struggles with growing up, with society, feeling isolated, feeling intense emotion within from their own internal obstacles and also from the outside world. It’s not easy and it’s easy to see why drugs/alcohol are involved I’m glad u are bringing more awareness to this topic
Saw this downtown Austin today.
Austin Transportation Department workers install the Rainbow Crosswalk at 4th and Colorado streets on Monday October 11, 2021. In commemoration of National Coming Out Day, members of the Austin City Council and Austin LGBTQ Quality of Life Advisory Commission joined other city leaders to celebrate the installation of the crosswalks that resembles the Progressive Pride flag. The crosswalks also include black and brown stripes to represent people of color, and baby blue, pink and white, which represent the Transgender community.
A little late to join the party… but good post Danni. Thank you.
However, I miss the P or + in the title
Of course Buddhism has also been paying attention to our rainbow community.
After all the Buddha allready said over 2500 years ago that our world isn’t binary.
My appreciation goes out to the Australian Rainbodhi community for creating and sharing a leaflet to make Sangha’s worldwide aware of the struggles the rainbow community faces, and how to make all more welcome.

And of course a big thanks to Letty, who shared her Metta Pride video.
Edited…
Thank you for pointing it out x
Yes
He’s ranked third in the polls at the moment.
Meanwhile in Hungary there will be a referendum ’in the defense of our children’. There is already a law (insterted into the law against pedophilia) that bans popularization of lgbt-issues for people under the age of 18. No school lessons in this topic, no representation allowed in films and advertisements. It’s prohibited to put books representing same-sex affection or gender change into shop windows, prohibited to sell them near schools and churches, they can be sold only separately from other books, they must be enclosed in packaging, and so on. Despite the existing law they organize a referendum in the topic too to marginalize lgbt-folks even more and to distract attention from other issues. It implies that lgbt-groups want to popularize and convince kids in schools about homosexuality and gender change. People had to register for getting covid-vaccines with an email address and they have been getting government propaganda emails to that address, including emails saying that everyone should vote against the lgbt lobby, because we have to protect our children, „we have to stop this bullshit” as Orbán said. I don’t want to go into politics at all, but sometimes I need to vent about all the disgusting stuff that’s going on there. It’s so hopeless. So many people were already uneducated in the topic and it’s just getting worse with all these shit. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for an lgbt-kid to live there now. Those who were in silence so far, now feel more and more entitled to speak or act against this minority.
Medieval country…
But even that will change one day…
I’m afraid it’s not medieval, it’s very much 2022… And it’s not just Hungary, we see this all around the world. Populists using hate to get or stay in power. Sorry I’m getting political.
I don’t think it would change on the long run, I don’t believe in moral evolution, or maybe the proportion would shift, maybe there will be times when it will be less acceptable and more cringe to be homophobic or transphobic, but that could be turned around anytime by populists and Hungary has always been open to the morally questionable ways with short-term benefits. Humans are humans, I don’t think they would surprise me pleasantly when it comes to power.
I dated a girl last year who used to be my ex boyfriend’s girlfriend.
If that didn’t confuse you enough let me say this,
We were confused. We both came from families where it wasn’t truly accepted to be doing what we were doing, Neither of us had openly dated a woman and been so vocal about it.
We drank A LOT. I’m not a fan of cocaine and found myself doing cocaine and actually that event sent me to the hospital.
Our very short whirlwind romance ended on a terrible note because of a drunken night of terror and trust issues all around.
I know it’s hard. I feel this pain and am still trying to understand exactly what I am and who I am, It’s a uphill battle but know you ARE loved.
Know that you are loved indeed. Love is love. It isn’t the easiest of roads but it’s worth travelling. I hid for I don’t even know how long. Way too long. Decades. I hid in secrecy, drugs and booze. It’s a road to nowhere. Take your time but don’t wait forever like i did. X
The thing I didn’t know I needed to hear today!
I will add to that by saying once you are able to live in your truth and find who you are and want to be it is one of the most amazing feelings
You will find your way soon enough and know we will be here to love and support you!
