Today I am so proud of my husband. He’s often away for work and this was his first time being away for work and sober. All his colleagues were drinking and he didn’t. They asked him why? He proudly responded: “ I don’t drink anymore “ Especially the “not anymore “ part takes courage. To openly state your previous issues with drinking and feeling comfortable to state where you are at right now. Very proud!
Travelling for work while sober takes a special kind of resolve, especially when jetlag/red eye flights are involved. I can imagine how proud you and your husband are of this achievement!
I’m proud of you both that’s some amazing strength and togetherness right there you’ve got each other’s back
Has to be careful around other drinkers doing great wish him well
@Ray_M_C_Laren Yoi are so right, you have to be careful around other drinkers and he did. To me that’s also progress, knowing your surroundings and being alert of triggers
@Dirk Thank you! His job includes a lot of traveling work wide. I was very worried how it would go. People can be mean and try to make you feel like you are the weird one for not drinking. But, actually most but one were silent when he said he quite drinking. One paused and said “ that’s what I should do too, stop drinking “
@19801 Hi Corine! How are you? We do really try to support each other. In our case, both alcoholics, it’s the only way to succeed. Before he left for his trip he was even make sure I would be one. My husband asked “ Do you need something from the store? Do you have enough soda in the house or would you like a snack?” When we were still drinking we were never considered towards each other, just drifting apart. Now finally finding each other again
Aww that’s amazing it’s like your loving and caring for each other all over again And I’m ok today .I’m grateful for all that I have in my life
@19801 Hi Corine. Oh I hear you, there’s so much to be grateful for once you are sober. I am so happy for you and glad to hear you are doing okay
