Ptsd coping skills, i need ideas

So i have some gun related trauma, and soon itll be July. So fireworks cause canada day July 1. I get very triggered from the fireworks and i was caught off guard a few months back, but i got through it sober. I want to prepare some stuff in advance this time. I currently have some noise canceling earbuds and a few grounding tools like scented lotion and soft things, but i need ideas. So if anyone else on here has ptsd and wants to share how they deal with flashbacks sober, id love some advice and tips. Thanks

Hi - sorry, I’ve deleted 2 posts now by accident. Anyway, what I had said was that my mum had a lodger( Duncan), for a long time, with PTSD. He was in the Gulf and Afghanistan situations. When he started to feel it, she spent hours talking to him till he couldn’t remember what he was upset about anymore. Sometimes he needed more help. But, Duncan says there are some things that may help. First, plan your evening by the hour. Include getting yourself as relaxed as possible, by having a shower while it’s daylight, and cooking a favourite meal just before the sun goes down / pre-fireworks. That will involve you getting a list of ingredients together for your meal. Then cook before getting yourself hunkered down to watch your favourite or anticipated movie. Get a back up movie or show in hand in case you hate the movie, or aren’t tired enough to sleep yet. That includes having late night snacks prepared.
Sounds like fun, actually - I think I’m going to do it too!
