Quirks that work for you?

I’m curious to see if you guys have developed any random (harmless) obsessions since getting sober? Something you make sure to include in your routine or your go to “I’m triggered treat” that helps shift your focus away from a craving? For me it’s gummy candies of any kind (but especially twizzler gummies ) and carbonated drinks are a MUST. :joy: I also went through a weird phase in the first 2 months where I could not stop watching scary movies. And I was absolutely NOT a scary movie watcher before I got sober, it was so strange lol.

No particular quirks to speak of, but I do find I am able to treat myself a bit more readily now as I am saving so many empty calories by not drinking.
Guilt free treats taste even better

Same here. Reece’s Peanutbutter Cups are my go-to “Scooby Snack” for my reward, or a pick-me-up when I’m feeling a little down. Sometimes I’ll treat myself to an occasional donut.

Yes, I’m definitely a LaCroix Boy. Seems like they’re always coming out with new and interesting flavours. :+1:

Murder documentaries. To be totally honest, I think the mental game appealed to me, but also, no matter how low I felt about myself, I’d tune in and find comfort knowing I might be a crappy drunk, but I’m not a scheming murderer.

I started reading a book the other day and literally said “oh my god. My brain cells are growing back! I actually read and comprehended an entire chapter of a book!” I was so scared I had irreversible alcoholic brain damage.

Im a huge fruit gummy fan now. Thrillers have been drawing my attention and I enjoy the chaos in prison movies. Not like the old me.

I watch a ton of pool on the billiards channel. My boys make fun of me. It’s very soothing to me.

I can see how that would be soothing actually! That’s something I never would have thought of, but I want to watch it now

Sparkling water is essential :joy: it’s interesting how many alcoholics have that in common

I know this is gross, but I like watching Dr. Pimple Popper (Dr. Sandra Lee) on YouTube. It’s kind of a tension reliever for me.

Yeah, definitely something new in my life since quitting. Since going sober I’ve gone from never seeing an episode of Star Trek in my life, to watching them back to back most evenings.

I’ve watched so much of it in the last 62 days that if someone annoys me I hit my imaginary Comms badge saying ‘one to beam up’. I’m keeping that one :+1:
