I was like you and knew I could not do it alone. Then found I was powerless. I have dove headfirst into AA meetings, sponsorships and the 12 steps. 49 days sober today. This is the longest sober time in years.

Read on here as much as you can. Great resources for a sober life.

One day at a time!

Hi there,
Congrats on your decision and progress.
Ive also recently seperated from a narcissist alcoholic. Its been 2 months since heā€™s moved out and Iā€™m learning to be me again. We have a 3 year old so I have a long legal fight in front of me.
Im also new here, officially day 1, I know it doesnā€™t quite count for anything yet. Im scared which feels silly, I know Iā€™m a better and happier person without it. Iā€™ve been ā€˜cutting backā€™ but that only lasts so long and yesterday I decided its time to take the plunge and finally committ as Iā€™ve been wanting to do for too long.

I worry about the weekend coming, but I know I can get there and face it when its here. Glad your here.

If you want a check in buddy feel free to message me.

First and foremost, congratulations on 21 days sober! Thatā€™s an awesome accomplishment. I have been sober for 45 days today and there are definitely up and down days. It can be difficult for sure but having a good support system helps and you just have to take it one day at a time.

Thank you for replying to the other individual as I thought all of these online chats were old and dated or digital bots trying to sell you onto something. I had my last drink an hour ago after a week of nothing and am so miserable right now as a result

I know sometimes it can be kind of clichĆ© to say but hang in there. Slip ups are a possibility, just donā€™t give up trying and know you can always reach out if you need an listener or some words of encouragement.

Thank you for this.

I have made it 17 days but I feel like I am on a clif and could jump off at any moment. Like waiting for a jump scare

Great job sticking with it, just keep doing what youā€™re doing and before you know it youā€™ll have a bunch of days under your belt.

Donā€™t jump. Believe in yourself. Find a way to distract your mind, I used sleep as much as possible in early days. Or working out, walking, bicycling, getting outside. Or long baths. Anything but drinking. And I wanted to so bad. Just get thru this moment. Then the next. Take it a moment at a time. I can honestly tell you I have never regretted waking up hangover and regret free. Hold fast to your dreams. You are stronger than you think. :muscle: :people_hugging: You know what the old life holdsā€¦embrace the new.

And big congrats on your 17 daysā€¦that is a lot!!
