My birthday was a couple days ago and one of my best friends who lives in another state mailed me a birthday gift. It was a spa kit that included a wine glass and a pair of socks with the words “bring me some wine” written on them. I had told her a few months ago in the beginning of my sobriety that I was getting sober and at the time I was still kind of on the fence about it so I guess I never really told my friend that I am completely sober and want to stay sober. I’m just gonna get rid of the socks and the wine glass but how should I go about telling my friend that I’m sober? I feel bad that she went out of her way to get this for me and I’m worried she’ll be upset when I tell her.

Tell her it was thoughtful of her and you loved the spa kit but the only “w(h)ine” you do is when you’re cranky,
