Recovery.. recovery

It’s been a while since i made a post. My recovery has been a roller coaster ride.

Been a compulsive gambler this past 2 years, hit my rock bottom couple of times, cannot make a month sober on both substance and gambling.

Again, i am in the part of my life that i am tired from all of these. I regret my decisions. I am no help in my family.

Am trying to start again.

You’ve recognized your problem so the first step of the process is done. Have you ever tried a 12 step program like AA or another recovery program like Smart recovery or anything? I know they also have a specific thing for gamblers in GA also which came from AA. Either way the only path forward I know of is to commit to and follow a program of recovery. My experience was exactly that. I half assed AA and thus I had no success. I fully committed and I haven’t had a mind altering substance since that day over a year and a half ago. There are lots of avenues to get sober and free from your addiction, but the main requirement is the willingness to work at it every day. Wishing your the best with going forward and finding your way through this. It’s possible for anyone

Thank you. I am attending GA for more than a year now. But still slips from time to time. The main trigger is the substance

Have you ever done AA or NA or been to a meeting of either? I’ve also had a really good sponsor so if you think a 12 step program can still be your answer my suggestion would be a sponsor who you connect with who’s really knowledgeable on the program itself. Therapy has helped me tremendously also. These addictions we have are mental. The stronger your mental health the more you know yourself on a deep level the easier it becomes. It’s tough when the slips happen and just early on in general, but keep getting back up. You can beat this thing and take back your life
