I just posted about something similar. Feeling terrible as soon as I took the shot after only five days of being sober. You can do it. I’m going to do it too.!!
Not corny it’s beautiful and much needed.. thank you so much x
Im okay hun.. still in the spiral of shame but im okay thank you so much xx
Oh hun I am so sorry that you are feeling this way too.. let’s do this… we have got this xx
Relapse hurts, especially when you do stupid things while doing it. As someone else said I use those memories to remind myself just how bad it can get. Believe me as someone who has done it many times, it always gets worse.
The good news if you choose not to do it again and really want to stop you can. I am proof and am now almost 4 years sober.
Welcome and enjoy your sobriety.
Thank you so much.
And you are absolutely right.. I have that choice not to do it again.
I will turn this pain into power.
Thank you again for your words

Stay connected and find you two true accountability partners. It works when we are open and transparent. You can do it.
Your post really struck home. I just downloaded this app because I relapsed after not drinking for over a year. I feel terrible for putting my wife and kids in this position. This is my first relapse and I’m hoping it will be my last. I put my family through enough when I was drinking.
The last year has been the best year. Not waking up hungover, having the energy to take on the day and whatever comes my way. But now I’m starting all over again and the feeling of disappointment and shame has me really down right now as I’m away from my family because I was told to give them space. It’s pretty lonely when you wake up and don’t hear your kids. They will be my motivation to stay clean.
Man, I can feel your pain. It must be tough to relapse after a year…
But, I also imagine you have a huge advantage going forward - because you have total perspective on both lives; your addicted life and your life of freedom.
So, you know everything you need to know to succeed moving ahead.
For sure, take some time to really reflect on what led to your relapse after a year: the triggers, the preoccupation that you fell into, any ritual that moved you in the direction of drinking…
Studying these will make you super prepared for the next time.
I appreciate you man - your streak, your honesty, your determination - everything!
Thanks for the perspective you have given me. It’s very clear which side I want to be on. I’m just in disbelief that I let this happen. It’s extremely sad how quick I just let my family down and broke my sobriety. I’m heartbroken. But I need this to fuel my fire to get back on the right path and never let this happen again.
