I am new to my sobriety and keep having dreams of relapsing almost nightly. Is this a normal thing people are going through?
Yes, apparently. I am on day 17 and have had 3 very real relapse dreams. I am so relieved to find out it was just a dream. I don’t want to mess up this time. Hopefully, these dreams will become less frequent or go away. Anyone else?
Thank you! We aren’t alone!
Very common!
Just wake up from them.
Had a relapse dream last night. Lots of weird dream messages in it.
I don’t really remember the initial drinking. I remember waking up (in my dream) after drinking and thinking, fuck, now I have to drink again. So I went to the liquor cabinet and there was endless bottles of vodka. But I looked at them and just knew they were all filled with water. Every one.
Now any self respecting drunk knows the old refill the bottle with water just like any self respecting respecting junkie knows the Refill the prescription cold medicine with NyQuil.
Anyways, they were all water. That’s all I really remember. Thanks for listening😉
Completely normal and part of recovery for many… I had severe night sweats and vivid using dreams for almost 6 months when I stopped drinking and using. What helped me was to just accept it for what it was and tried not to think about having a good sleep. I still struggle with insomnia but the relapse dreams don’t come nearly as often.
