Welcome back. Congrats on your 150 days sober and your current days. Have you considered a program such as AA? Sobriety is not a quick fix cure. Sobriety is an entire permanent way to live a fulfilling life. Do you have a plan?
Welcome back Thaine. What happened happened (although it would be good to know what did happen, so you can learn something from it). Now all you can do is move forward, one day at a time, work hard on your recovery and never forget where you are coming from. I’m glad you’re here. We’re in this together. Congrats on 13 days, just keep going.
What happened was you chose drinking again, perhaps you told yourself you could moderate, perhaps you stopped working at your sobriety, perhaps you forgot how bad drinking was.
What matters is what you do now… accepting you cannot moderate, working your sobriety and surrounding yourself with people (meetings, friends, family, medical professionals, this forum etc…) that support your decision to be alcohol free.
Whatever you weren’t doing leading upto your relapse needs doing this time for you to be successful.
What happened was you ‘thought you were in the clear’. An addict is never in the clear. The addict part of them (us) is always there, ready to be woken up if we provide an excuse. It can be an excellent excuse, like real hard life events, so we always have to be alert and remind ourselves that ‘there is nothing a drunk/drug won’t make worse.’ Being active on here can help to keep you on track.
I won’t add to the above on what happened. I’m just glad you made it back, many do not. We all have another drunk or high in us but none of us can say we have another recovery…
Made it back i know alot of guys who didnt make it back pass the grave yard everyday ,life or death choice is yours ,you say you have lost everything due to drinking so maybe try and get to a meeting always hope wish you well
