Hi @Booboo, yes it is normal! Alcohol is full of sugar so if you didnt have a sweet tooth before you may discover you have one when you quit drinking! Also, alcohol deprives our bodies of much needed nutrients so depending on what your eating habits were like before your body may be crying out for some nutrition, that or if you were eating very little before then naturally your body will be wanting to claim back it’s appetite. Eat regular meals and if you fancy something sweet have something, it’s better than a drink. I’m a year sober and I still very much have a sweet tooth that I never had when I was drinking, when I 1st got sober in my early days my fave thing was haribo sweets, never used to eat then in my life. Your body will settle down eventually

I’ve also had a small increase in appetite but I figure the calories I was drinking can’t compare to the few extra calories I’m taking in from food. Focus on being healthy and treat yourself to a candy bar or whatever it is your craving! I never eat the sweets I bake the kids and they have enjoyed me sitting and having a little treat with them

I read that when you are dehydrated you crave sweets. Make sure you are drinking enough water; this could help with some of those cravings.
I was beginning to eat more after I stopped drinking, but I was choosing healthy foods to munch on. Snacking is okay, just watch the amount of sugar you are consuming, it is the leading cause of weight gain (fat).

Lol yeah I had 2 grilled cheeses with short rib, bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and 2 bowls of ice cream in the past couple hours smh. My appetite has definitely gone through the roof

That happened to me too, I didn’t like it but accepted it as the much lesser evil . also, I’ve been fighting it by working out , which helps with sobriety too.
