Just for you…

Time for the puzzler. This one is based on a true story and was sent in to us many years ago. Here it is.

One crisp fall morning, a man brings his Porsche into his mechanics saying that he couldn’t drive it more than 20 miles an hour. At that speed, it developed an horrendous shutter.

The mechanic being busy as usual, drinking his morning coffee, says he can look at it later on that day.

When the driver returned that evening, the mechanic reported that they couldn’t repeat the problem. They couldn’t reproduce the issue. They had taken it on a test drive, and the car ran perfectly.

The next morning, the driver returns with exactly the same complaint. Again, the mechanic puts it in the garage and spends the morning drinking coffee and over billing other customers. Again, the driver returns that evening. And it is the same story. The same complaint.

The next day, the same thing. The driver returns and says that when he drives the car over 20 miles an hour, the car starts to shake so badly it feels like it will fall apart.

This time, the junior assisstant mechanic hears the story.

Then he asks the owner one question. He asks, “Did you buy new tires this summer?”

And the owner says, “Yes, I did.”

And the junior mechanic assistant says, “I know what’s wrong with your car…”
So, what does he know?

Would it have to do with the guy needed AA Meetings and Possible had a problem with drinking or drugs

Or could he have been crazy And needed more then his car fixed probably a doctor to look at his :brain:

Are tires not balanced?
Could do with cold temps overnight too?

Is it something to do with the tire pressure dropping in cold weather? It shutters only when the man drives it in the crisp mornings. Mechanic is driving later in the day after it warms up.

Is he simply driving on ice in the morning?

Sorry, no. But, ice is involved!

Is there water in the tires? It’s frozen in the morning and thaws out during the day?

Correct! The big clue is the crisp autumn morning.

Birth of a Word

Time for the new puzzler.

This puzzler has to do with the birth of a word, you might say.

Here we go.

So, as usual, I don’t have all the facts straight. But I will make them up as I go along.

During the 19th century, there were these disgruntled French peasants who worked in the fields sowing and harvesting the crops.

These peasants would go into the fields of their rich landlords and would trample the crops wearing their wooden peasant shoes.

Out of this behavior, a new word was born.

This word has entered not just the French vocabulary, but the English vocabulary as well.

And is a very common word, a word that you perhaps hear every day.

What is that word?

Good luck.
