This was a rough one. I went too fast out the gate and walked 8x but still beat 2 of my personal records. It pays to show up.

See me struggling below

Awesome, nothing beats a PR! Well, except maybe beating the young kids!:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Nice! You beat 2 PR’s whilst dialing in your pace!

Has anyone tried the Runna app? I just got it yesterday and did my 2nd run with it tonight. I really like it so far. It took me through a tempo run. Hill repeats on Thursday! I needed a change.

I tried it last year and I liked it but I didn’t like the price. I’ve heard a ton of good and bad things about it. A lot of people say it helps them get faster and others have gotten injuries because of the training load. I’m doing a garmin plan and I have found it similar to the runna plan

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I’ve never had my watch guide my workouts before (just used it to view my mileage and pace). So I’d probably be real impressed with anything that does that!

You should totally look on your garmin connect under coach plans. The run I did today had me do a certain pace. My watch would vibrate if I was going too fast or slow. If I remember the runna app does that too. I just like garmin cause it’s free.

I had a nice 7.7 miler this morning. Good, easy pace. I’ve been watching my heart rate lately. It’s really interesting to watch during sleep! I’ve also started to notice the Cadence a bit. I’ve read 180 is optimum. I’m not sure how to get there except, run faster! Here’s today’s run:

Whered you hear the 180 cadence is optimal??? Nice heart rate response @Gorden

One of the feedback things on the Runna app mentioned it, then I was doing some googling and kept seeing it, and someone at work mentioned it. It seems lots of variables go into it and there is no golden rule for everyone. However, it does have me thinking about it. It’s funny, every time I see my reflection in a store window, it looks to me like I’m just lumbering along, haha. I am a “larger” person for a runner… about 6’2”, 200 lbs. That’s not giant by any means but I rarely see people my age (51) and size at races. Kind of interesting. I guess it’s all relative, right? I mean my friends talk like I’m this crazy in-shape person, but then I go to races and feel like the most unfit person there! Haha, OK, I’m rambling now. Oh yeah, cadence, I have no idea😆

I remember when I PR-d my 5k a few years ago my cadence was like 190s. On my 5k today it was around 165-170. So maybe there is something to it. I don’t normally pay attention to that stat.

Proud i got up and ran/walked 6.75mi. I started my running life last year doing the run walk thing. Now im trying to run for longer periods so i tried to do 2 stints of 2.5mi followed by some intervals. Its so hard after i walk the first time to maintain a run. Idk how to get over that. Either way. Proud i showed up

I have the same problem. It’s so easy to take walk breaks after the first one
