Running in Recovery in 2024-2026

Interesting. My plantar fascia, achilles, calves, and hamstrings have all been tight lately. I’m taking some time off and doing a lot of stretching. Also working on my calf strength. Seems to be working a bit. Feeling pretty good at the moment, but I know from experience that can change quick!

Wow you were just talking about getting the motivation a few days ago and here you are showing up for yourself consistently. Thats something to be proud about.

P.s. impressive time this morning!

Solid effort this morning but it was tough. Lots of walking breaks. I stopped running too soon. Glad i showed up for myself. You guys motivate me!

Rainy run

So I decided to try the Runna app. I’m doing a 6 week 5K improvement. I thought it would be a good jumping off point to see if I like the programming. This was my very first run :grimacing: No walk breaks :tada: but a few traffic breaks. This felt easy but the AI says I didn’t run easy :upside_down_face:

I looked at the whole 6 weeks and it’s a crazy ramp up. I guess because I said I’m not a beginner. What’s crazy to me is there is a 9 mile run in a few weeks!

So do we edit the thread title for the new year or start a new thread? Almost 2026 folks.

I got a late start and my unmotivated mind almost stopped me but i did a treas walk and run. Good thing about the tread is i can maintain a pace.

Proud i showed up today

I just extend the year like I did last year. I don’t feel like we have enough posts for a whole new thread

Nice negative splits!!! :tada::tada:

I’ve seen other people do strength workouts but I can’t find that section. Do you know where those workouts are at on the app?

Ha, I can’t find it now. I know I’ve seen it. I don’t have an active plan at the moment and everything is a little different. I am setting up a new plan, I’ll see if it shows up after that.

Ok, yeah, I set up a plan and now I see strength, among other things, in the Manage Plan section.

I don’t know if you need a specific race goal or just a plan. I haven’t actually used it, but I see it there!

Thanks! I found it. I’m going to check it out. They have a pilates and yoga section. I feel like I get enough strength work from my CG trainer

Well that was hard to do with swollen feet :grimacing: Thankfully the bottom side has gone down a lot but there was still discomfort. 5K sunday streak lives on

Awesome! I start my new Runna plan tomorrow. I’m excited and a bit nervous as I have some big goals. Here’s to hoping I stay relatively injury free!

How are you liking Runna so far? What is it, your second week?

Today was the end of week 1. I am liking it so far. I appreciate the different types of runs. Garmin had the same type of runs each week but with different distances. I did like the yoga session I tried from them so I may add another one of those one in place of the pilates cause I didn’t like that. Have you used the community section?

What is your new plan for?

Ps- It keeps telling me “I’m ahead of the pack” and should change my goal but I doubt that I can hold the pace it thinks I can. If it still says that after this week I’ll change to the new pace it wants from me.

I love the different workouts. I actually PR’d a month ago, which, at my age, was pretty fun. I have to say I think I owe it all to Runna. I mean, yeah, I did the work, but I loved the workouts. Having workouts pushed to my watch every day and then having my pace guided by the watch was also a revelation!

I told Runna I am shooting for a half marathon at the end of May. So, it’s a long way out there. I did add a “B” race in April, so it will factor that in too. I will run other races along the way. My Runna AI Overlord will give me a slight tongue lashing on those days, but I’m used to getting yelled at (by humans and non-humans).

I like having all the extra analytics from Runna. This was a hard workout and I missed the pace on the middle longer intervals but I tried. Only way to get better is to keep doing it.

Runna had a little talk with me yesterday and suggested I dial back my paces. I agreed, so everything was recalculated. The right thing to do, but I was still a little depressed.

Runna chastised me for not hitting the paces from my last post  We shall see how tomorrow goes. I have a 7.5 mile run which blows my mind. I’m doing a 5k improvement plan and that seems so far.
