Very nice!!! I’m trying to get my life together to do my run. I did some yoga earlier but I’m off today so I have the time, I just gotta get the motivation
I get the day off today. I chose the 5 day a week plan this time. So, I’m going to enjoy the rest!
Wasn’t the greatest run or even a good one but I did 7 miles today
It was very much a walk/run situationship. I was in such a negative headspace and hung up on doing 9 miles. I didn’t want to and I still don’t see how it will help me improve my 5k time.
So, I just started running this week. I thought about doing the Couch to 5K, but nine weeks felt like way too long. Instead, I decided to just run a little further each day on my commute. In four days, I’m already up to a mile, and my heart rate’s been around 143 bpm during those runs.
I didn’t think I was pushing it too hard, but then I noticed my resting heart rate went up, which seemed weird. I looked it up, and apparently, rest days are really important for our body to recover and also get used to these new stresses I’m placing on it. (You will all know this, of course, and so did I, but I thought I also knew better.)
So today is definately a rest day as its too icy out there anyway. Tomorrow I may rest as well depending on the weather then carry on on Tuesday and then alternate days.
If you cant get out to run, dont have a running machine at home then what do you do?
I go bonkers ![]()
But jokes aside, if I can’t go out for a run, I’m trying to do some strength workout with kettlebell at home. I know I should do this regurally but lately I just keep it for a “stay home” days. Because of the weather we have quite enough of them.
Best of luck on your running journey ![]()

Easy run today. It’s 5k sunday but the Runna plan wanted 4.5 and I did it. No walk breaks and kept the pace pretty consistent through the whole thing. ![]()
I have found that it’s easier for me to keep going if I’m listening to a book vs music. I get lost in the book and before I know it I’m X amt of the distance in. This is my current book. I just fell into the dragon/fairy world. I listened to ACOTAR series first and now I’m in this dragon series.
I do a number of things if I’m not running. Strength work, yoga, pilates or a spin class. I try to keep a constant rotation of stuff. I pick the activity on how my body feels. If I’m sore then I go the yoga/pilates route and if I’m feeling good I go the strength/ cycle route
I dont know what is up today. I was sweating like i was hungover but still sober. Seriously massive sweat when i was slowing my pace. Kept negotiating with myself, breath out of wack, but i ran a 5k straight!. Ill take any tips on how to get past my 5k consistent run threshold!
For me it’s constant bargaining with myself
I did my 4.5 miles yesterday and my 4 today and both without walk breaks. My main thing is distraction. Yesterday I used the audiobook and today I was watching a TV show on netflix. Some days I’m able to do no walk breaks and others I just can’t. I think it’s just finding what works for you and pushing past the mental barrier.
After a couple of months slacking was feeling too lazy and rubbish and finally got my arse out for a run. At the time it felt good, 5 minute run intervals, with a song break, repeated 5 times, but I have terrible doms today and when I checked the app my heart rate while running was up to 186! Clearly got to get some stamina back!
Fartlek are hard but also I got to deal with headwind, traffic and big ass rain puddles. Waiting for the vet to call me, hopefully I get to pick up Haley in a bit
Super cold this morning 21F with a feel like temp of 14 but no wind! I was feeling so very grateful for the no wind part. I was in fleece from head to ankles lol and I worked up a sweat despite the cold temp.
I woke up one day and decided I needed a break from running. Which is weird, because it is pretty much my life. It’s hard to explain. It’s like I’m too dependent on it. I don’t know… I could go on and on and on without really saying anything. I still think running is the greatest thing and I’ll still be following all of your exploits. I’ll be back into it in some form, someday.
Keep on battling!
Sounds like its a healthy thing for you to take a break. I hope you rest up get some weight lifting in and can come back stronger!
Sometimes I feel that way too. I have 1 more week on this training plan and then I plan to take at least a week off before starting anything new
Struggling with building distance so not pressuring myself. Ran 2mi then tried to get to zone 2 cardio then did 1 more mile. Feeling good i showed up for myself today. May try running 3mi straight later this week. First race of the year is feb 1st 8k
Ran 4mi straight today! Ive been hung up at the 5k distance. The last .5mi was tough! But i did it before 7am. Feeling proud.
Im wondering if this years fitness goal should be to run a 10k nonstop. Just a thought…noncommital rn. Maybe its my overachiever thinking after accomplishing 4mi. Food for thought
I think it’s a good goal! My fitness goal for the year is to do something every single day- cycle, yoga, run, strength work. I have a built in exception for if I’m sick but other than that If I’m feeling sore some light stretching will be my movement
