So tired of starting over. Hopefully, I can get stuff figured out when I go to the doctors.
Hi Skyraven
I know how exhausting it is to feel like you’re stuck in a loop. You do deserve to be free of whatever it is. I hope so much that your doctor can help you soon.
I’m sorry to hear about your difficulty. When I needed to stop I would go to detox or get arrested - they had to put me in a box to get me to stop. It’s amazing that you’re trying to do it by choice.
Don’t give up - each failure is one step closer to success and your experience in this time will be helpful down the road when you are able to achieve long-term abstinence and someone is going through what you’re going through now. The experience has value, it is not wasted time.
Stay positive friend we’re with you on this journey you are not alone
Hi & welcome! For me to stay sober, consistently, I have to remember every morning of who & what I am. A simple alcoholic. Then I make sure not to listen to me when it comes to dope or booze. He always got me messed up.
Maybe consider the same, or being around like minded people at a meeting? Helps a lot of folks.
Probably won’t do meetings. I was looking at AA, but decided it was not for me. I was going to look at some other things.
I openly called out AA for being a cult at my last meeting. That said, a cult isn’t always a bad thing. I don’t know the Lords Prayer, I don’t know the serenity prayer, I don’t call my sponsors, I don’t study the 12 steps nor work them, but I keep going to meetings. I like the people and the message and those people are just like me. We’re all in this struggle together and the more support I have, the better.
Sobriety will stick when you’re willing to do whatever it takes for it. The things (at least in my experience) change from time to time. Best wishes to you.
I was going to look at this Naked Mind book. For me it will be a good starting point.
That was a great book. That book and Allen Carrs easy way to Control alcohol changed my perception of alcohol forever.
