Hi everyone im new to the app, ive been sober since the 19th August 2016 so nearly 10 years, I still have days when I could easily pick up a drink and get drunk but my wife and kids are the reason I stopped as I had stage 1 liver disease and my doctor told me I would be dead in a year if I didnt stop, it was hard but I made the right choice
Hey Luke! Welcome! Congratulations on 10 years, that’s amazing.
Welcome, Luke. I came to Talking Sober after many years sober also. It’s become a key part of my recovery since then. I meet, virtually, more people just starting out on TS than I ever do in real life. It reinforces my motivation for sobriety when I read about the struggles of early days, and I see the victories and defeats that folks go through in early sobriety.
Welcome to the community Luke. Congratulations on your sobriety time. This community is filled with members from all over the world in different stages of sobriety. Lots of love and support here. Hope to see you around ![]()
Welcome to Talking Sober!! Glad you are here! And congratulations on your 9+ years!!!
My story and situation was about the same. I had fatty liver disease and my liver and kidneys were in failure. I first quit to save my marriage, and it saving my marriage I got to keep my kids. After a while I started to do it for myself.
I have 900+ days. I’ll get to 10 years. I can’t drink, I found out I really don’t want to die after all.
