I’m Chastity and I’m a recovering alcoholic. Tomorrow will be my 1 year anniversary. One of my children, age 17, is having some medical tests tomorrow and I’m sitting here playing the what if game. I’ve been strong for her the past few days and haven’t really been emotional, but tonight everything is hitting me and hard. We’ve been praying for good news, but tonight I’m scared about my sobriety if it’s not good news. I just need to give it up to my Higher Power. I’ve come too far and I know He wants me to succeed. Thanks for listening.
Praying it’s good news for the family. She needs her mom to be present and sober. Stay stong!
You’ve done well…let me tell you my situation. Lost over $50k in business and out of it, then got evicted from rental property and moved to a new place with huge suffering, with in 1 week of moving wife went sick unable to eat…still in hospital for 3 weeks now. Everything she ate she threw up. Weeks on pure fasting but on drips.
Now she is getting better- for dinner she had 1 small cup of food and I am over the MooooN😀
I hope it’s good news, the results will be the results, we can’t change what they are and your daughter needs her mother to be strong and sober for her. You have done great to make it a year, and you are right about giving this up to your HP.
Have you spoken to your sponsor about it?
Fearing for our children is a powerful force! It can moves us to do so many otherwise inexplicable things. Sometimes our love for our children, grown wild, can move us to do things that are destructive to our children.
Turn to the sober people in your day-to-day life. Your child must be facing some incredible stress as well. Even greater than yours, I would imagine!
If your addiction has ever brought you low, don’t leave sobriety to chance. Reach out to those in your life for strength.
Hey friend, the others are right. Your child needs you 100% sober if it should be bad news. Believe me, you’re stronger as you think you are I’m praying for your daughter, I hope it’s good news!
Thank you all for you words of strength and all the prayers. @SkyWatcher, prayers for your wife as well!
Feeling much better this morning. Ready to face what the day may bring. @NewPerspective, yes, my sponsor and I have spoken. So incredibly blessed to have her and others in the program (including you guys and gals) to have on hand! Have a blessed, sober day everyone!
It’s good to admit our fears. There’s something about putting the cards on the table which diffuses the fears. You’re brave. It’s clear you want to stay sober imo. I predict you will!
