These past 8 years have been quite a ride. I never thought I would be here, in my wildest dreams, but thanks to everyone one here, here I am.
I remember by first day sober. I woke up after a late night, I was drinking alone in my garage as my wife and kids slept, like I usually did. I drank about half of my last beer and put it on the shelf, which is totally out of character. I had enough, though, in that moment I didn’t quite understand the significance of it. That morning, I consciously decided that today was the day that I will not drink (or smoke cigarettes). Later that night, I went to a Flogging Molly/Dropkick Murphys show with my wife, sister and our Dad. It was the most uncomfortable night in my life, but I survived. After that day, I learned to be OK with being uncomfortable, because I spent the next 9 to 12 months being very, very uncomfortable.
All that seems like yesterday, despite coming so far and growing so much.
Thank you guys, for your support over the years, it means so much to me. We would not be here if not for each other, and that is priceless.
