Self Accountability, Actions & Ownership - NO Excuses, Reasoning Or Deflection

Recovery is all about ones self! This is a journey of healing, self fulfillment and really falling in love with who you truly are as a person.

The way we get there is honesty! We must be willing to be accountable for our actions. We must own our ways, words and emotions.

We must not make excuses, pass blame and try to reason our way out of ownership. We must take accountability our roles in situations with people, places and things in our lives.

This is a thread of HOW we will be ACCOUNTABLE, ACTIONS we will take and OWNING our role!

Day 26

Today I will take action by…

- Keeping my kitchen cleaning and making dinner for my family. I will clean the shelves of the fridge and organize them.

- I will answer the questions on page 86 of ā€œThe Big Bookā€ in reflection to day yesterday.

- I have already prayed and asked god for forgiveness for speaking ill of my sister yesterday.

- I will ensure my wife has limited responsibilities in the home today and throughout the week as she is working into the night all week.

This is how I plan to take action today. I will be accountable to my plans. I will take ownership if they work out or not. If they are received as teamwork or not. If they benefit me or my family or not.

Have an amazing day everyone!

Day 26 - Night

What a day of taking actions. It feels good to be accountable to myself and owning what I’ve done right and wrong.

I didn’t end up cleaning the fridge, and that’s okay. I worked on other projects around the house. Cleaning the microwave, setting a carpet, fixing the coat rack and deep cleaning the floors.

I did accomplish my goal of ensuring my wife has limited responsibilities today. I did school drop off and pick up. Groceries and errands at 3 different stores. Did drop off and picked up for my kids basketball practice. Made dinner and did a ton of dishes.

All of these things are selfish actions. I did them for me and my recovery. I wanted to feel like I added value to the peoples lives around me.

They can have positive or negative feelings about my actions, as they are entitled to. But at least I know for myself, how I contributed, how I accomplished my goals… That’s all that matters :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

i mean, what you’re talking about already exists on the app, it’s the check in thread. My concern is that this here thread will be isolated, and you won’t get to acheive your ā€˜ā€˜we’’ factor, and accountability is strongest in community too.

In the check in thread, we discuss accountability as well, it could be your focus as you share.

We can have our independent threads, so do as you wish, but why reinvent the wheel, and come join us on the check in thread.

Here: Checking in daily to maintain focus #82
