I liked Blackout as well. I have a thing for reading drunk books…Parched, Unwasted, Saturation, My Fair Junkie just to name a few. I see myself and check myself through them.
As a caveat…these types of books may trigger you…so please know thyself and what works or doesn’t for you.
Okay, just ended up buying it. The description really got me! I wasn’t out till closing time ever, but I knew how to drink to brownout/blackout before 6 pm like a pro. That was how I maintained my work life and “functioning” life.
I read Drink - The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol. I thought that book was EXCELLENT. It is part memoir and part science into why women are struggling more than ever with alcohol. It talks about biology, sociology, advertising… I found myself OFTEN stopping reading to say “Yes, this. This is me.”. I learned a lot.
My fav book so far is The Naked Mind. Alan Carr’s Quit The Drink Easily is very redundant for a reason, but very redundant! Kindle has a lot of suggestions once you do a search on recovery. Downloading their free samples of books you are considering saves both time and $$$.
