I just quit drinking after heavy for the past month. Was drinking almost everyday and before that I would drinking every day on weekends and wasn’t able to stop and would always drink too much. I’m feeling confident about quitting but I have been physically shaking during the day and having hot flashes. Does anyone know how long this last and tips to help with it.
Welcome @J.D.2004 and welcome to an awesome supportive community for people of all addictions. It sounds like youre experiencing wothdrawls. This experience is different for everyone depending on use/history/health. Its uncomfortable but worth the struggle to get on the other side of the addiction!
That being said if you are truly concerned please consult a doctor. In the meantime lots and lots of water, be sure to eat, and rest. I know i slept alot to avoid the uncomfortable withdraws but thats not always an option.
Read around and see what others have experienced. You can use the magnifying glass in top right menu for “withdrawl” and your find lots of info. (Personally i sort by latest post so im not replying to a post from 5yrs ago
Definitely recommend the what’s your plan post. I also found a solid multivitamin (I am a small child and prefer Flinstones lol) along with magnesium b complex and vitamin d. Calcium wouldn’t hurt either. I didn’t try until this last couple times and it helps a lot.
Definitely contact your doc if need be and stay hydrated

Hi JD! How are you doing today?
As I understand it, the physical detox takes three days. Stay hydrated and eat to keep your sugar up. The absence of alcohol means the body is suddenly really low on sugar, and thus can have serious medical consequences.
