I have 5 tattoos, got them all between the ages of 17 and 22…the worst of my drinking years. I’m 33 now so it’s been a long while since I got one.
I was broke, so they’re all cheap with the quality you’d expect as a result. They really aren’t relevant to the person I’ve become over the last decade. Hell, they were hardly relevant to the person I was - save being a permanent reminder of how impulsive I was back then.

Long story short, if I could snap my fingers and magically disappear them – I’d ditch 4 of the 5.

So I’ve been very gun-shy about tattoos ever since. Probably for the best.
However, I’ve had it in my head for the better part of the last year that I want to get a tattoo to commemorate my 1-yr anniversary of leaving everything I knew in Massachusetts and driving out to begin anew here in the AZ desert. It was much more than a move, it was fulfillment of a lifelong dream and a tremendously positive period of growth for me.

I’ve been toying with concepts for ages, and I won’t settle on something just to meet the “deadline” of the anniversary date (July 1 - July 7). I won’t do it until I love it.

All I know is that I want to involve a coyote and an agave. The kicker is, I’d also like to use it to cover up my first-ever tattoo. It’s on my upper right arm. Got it done at 17 in my aunt’s dining room by an ornery ol’ bastard named “Tex”.
Tex gives a really shit tattoo.

I’ll be scheduling a consult soon at a place that has been recommended to me several times by people familiar with artists/shops here. I’ll keep everyone in the loop.

Thanks man, the guy was (still is I guess) good

And a coyote + an agave seem like a pretty cool idea !

Aw thanks :blush: I’ve had about 8 Artists I think. I love collecting art from great local artists or visiting. I can’t wait to start filling in some more gaps with new pieces.

The cover up work now days is amazing! You are not alone, so many people especially now tattoos are a lot more accepted, get tattoos they regret young. And I’ve seen the most amazing cover up work done. Lazing partially and then covering is another option. I think it’s awesome being able to research tattoo artists on Instagram now instead of walking in and settling for an artist on a quick decision. You can really take your time, research the artists and the style before you walk in.
Which has saved me, being super impulsive, from making some quick decisions that may have resulted in tattoos I wasn’t happy with.
Can’t wait to see your new stuff, good luck with finding your new artist
