Thanks man ! I definitely agree with that .. like some of my favorite music I made was recorded on a 4 track cassette, crappy amps and bad mics and still is my favorite.. sometimes having less is better because you don’t get like in the way of the art
I love it! I love that you’re thinking about this.
Mix mediums.
Use oil pastels and watercolors together, or chalk pastels and colored pencils, charcoals and ink, the combinations are limitless! Have fun. Who knows, maybe you’ll create a new form of art?!
The fact that you don’t know and are still trying is inspirational. I get stuck in my head far too often when it comes to trying new things artistically, it’s refreshing to see you leaving your comfort zone.
Like @ICanAndWill said, it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but you. That’s the best part about creativity and imagination.
thanks for the feedback and sharing some of your experiences. Honestly though I spent like 10 minutes on that and I think I’m not going to add anything to it but we’ll see. Maybe laziness or maybe I just knew it was done. I’m off for the weekend after a small shift tomorrow and I’m going to get some ridiculous big canvases and some drop cloth to protect the carpet in my room and just not think but paint whatever comes out of my head. I had a brief period like maybe a year doing a lot of street art with stencils and regular brush sometimes and had a lot of pieces everywhere but then got arrested for it on thanksgiving like 15 years ago and couldn’t run lol. Had paint all over me and a bag of art supplies and a huge wall like taped off to get a idea..The 3 cops rolled up to the skatepark and I was thinking well I guess this is happening! They said they wanted to make an example out of me even though all the pieces I worked hard at and wasn’t anything offensive.. was on misdemeanor probation for a year, lots of community service and drug classes because i had a water bottle with wine on me.. guess in the future i will get permission but for now just gonna do stuff at home. I’ve had so many different chapters of Art type stuff I forget it all. But it feels brand new because i cant even remember doing all of that stuff and it feels different like doing smaller pieces. I’ve never learned the names of everything or specifics .. even with music. Basically if its not easy for me then I don’t really dive into it. But I do want to learn some techniques and what all the art terms mean
PS: I remember that thanksgiving I watched this Jackson pollock movie and got the bright idea to do something in broad day light .. not a good idea
Oh gosh, I love this one! Might be my favorite that you’ve posted so far!
This is where I struggle as well. I’m unsure if certain pieces need more or if they are good as is, as you said, less is more sometimes.
I’d really enjoy seeing what you come up with! Putting paint to canvas is always difficult for me, my perfectionism rears its silly head and I hesitate. Thankfully I’ve side stepped from canvas to model recently and have been able to overcome the fear of not being perfect with every stroke!
Excessive as usual
I’m definitely familiar with mandatory community service thanks to my unwillingness to follow speed limits on the road when I was younger!
Sounds like you had a big, bold idea and that you were willing to try to bring it to life, to me that’s what’s important.
The link below has a great comprehensive list of terms and definitions, maybe it will be useful for you on your artistic journey!

Oh how cute! Are you working on a new room model?
Yeah I’ve started a cute little kitchenette! Hopefully I’ll finish next week and get a picture done! ![]()
Looking forward to it. Those little strawberries are precious.
Oh WOW! This is so cool! How long have you been making miniatures??
Hey, thanks, probably about five years on and off. It’s very fiddly, but completely addictive!
Thanks for taking time to respond and share some of your story. Definitely relate to a lot of what you said.. also thanks for the link. I’m definitely going to Check that out. This store by my house called 5 bellow has a pretty good deal on 3 packs of canvas and pretty big.. part of me is itching to work on something right now but already did some some small practice stuff earlier. Plus it’s supposed to rain tomorrow so tomorrow might be a good day. This thread has motivated me to get back into painting and street art and try to spend maybe 30 minutes to 1 hour a day working at art and that should be a easy goal because I can just watch one less show or move some things around.. anyway hope your Saturday is going good!
Absolutely!
Nothing like painting on a rainy day!! Glad to hear you’re feeling motivated, I too feel motivated to post my work here thanks to this thread and the support I receive!
Hope your weekend goes well! ![]()

This is a couple of pictures of another scene I’ve completed.
This kitchenette will be around the same size and scale.
This is a freestanding picture box scene I did as well.
Amazingly detailed! ![]()
Got some more cheap paint supplies because honestly I’m still a beginner and learning and it’s been a long time since I worked on art. Plus, I didn’t really want to drive far today and got all of this stuff for $16 which I think is a good deal, they have a really good deal on canvas at five below which is like a retail store.. Supposed to be rainy and windy today so I’m going to lay some dropcloth down in the shed and probably just go crazy with one of these canvases. I definitely want to invest in some better brushes and paint but for now I’m not stressing and just having fun.
@Alexh666
5 bucks for 2 pack of big canvas is awesome.. gonna stock up on these.. they had a lot of varieties in sizes and types
Edit: I didn’t get enough paint so I’m forced to use multiple colors and can’t really do what I was planning or thinking about. That’s OK and I’m still learning. I think possibly buying supplies online might be good for me because when I’m in stores, I almost feel like rushed to get out of there and I wasn’t paying attention to how much paint I bought and the size I was doing.. it’s all good. I’m having fun out here in the shed and it’s pretty windy. They’re actually is a tornado watch, but it doesn’t really feel like that. Grateful to be alive.
This is awesome!
