Sober at Night

Nighttime is always the hardest time of day for me and my sobriety.

This was the time of the day I used most often and felt safest in my limited mindset.

Now that I’m sober, the dark brings dark feelings and deep urges, as if they are in my bones.

But I know for a fact that the sun will rise tomorrow, bringing light to all the dark corners of my heart.

I just have to remember to focus on the parts of my life that I want to nurture, like my inner self and family.

With Sol as my companion I can stay sober, stay focused, and stay content.

Welcome @Alexh666 i agree nighttime was the peak using time for me too. I came here often to be around like minded people and hit up a lot of alcoholics anonymous meetings to keep me busy

Alcohol has been my biggest struggle, but cocaine was also a thorn in my side for a long time! 10 and 8 months clean from them, and grateful! You?

It’s hard af to get through some evenings as most drink/use after their day has wrapped up…. I had issues at night when I quit drinking and the mornings when I stopped the percs. It is part of the routine unfortunately. I tend to overhaul routines in this instance… Hopefully I am not overstepping

Not overstepping at all, I appreciate the input! I’ve found that making new routines have really helped curb my urges! Gotta find a healthy replacement for all the time spent using

Thanks, it’s been 16 years of struggle but I think I’m stronger because of it! Nicotine is my next hurdle, I’m quitting December 1st, definitely going to struggle with that one quite a bit! But thankfully I have apps like this and people like you that I can rely on to provide support! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:
