Is your sober date the last time you used your DOC or the day after that? If it’s the day after, you’d add one to the days since your sober date in order to determine how long you’ve been clean, right?
I started the day after I last used or drank
I did the same thing @Inneed did.
I did too, just get confused because I always do the days since my sober date to see how long I’ve been clean. But it’s actually one more than that.
This question came up last month. Here’s what others said about their date.
Thank you.
I reset my sober clock as soon as I woke up the next morning with my last hangover
I use the day I checked in to rehab for the third time
Mine is the day of my last drink.
I also used my last drink.
Mine is the day I started my counter here.
Do what feels good for you, Since I was monitored I used the time I hit 0.0 BAC
I used the date that I had my last beer. I felt it in my heart, mind, body, and soul as I drank down the tall boy that it was going to be my last.
Edited to add: today actually makes 5 months sober!
Five months is awesome. Congrats!
Thank you SO much!! I’m nearly 30 lbs down in that time frame as well. So things are SO much better now! Best thing I ever did for myself was to quit drinking.
Absolutely agree! And I went between beer and wine… I could drink what I called a “Mama Bear” sized bottle of wine (1500 ml) ALL BY MYSELF in an evening and still be getting nervous when it was getting low, so we would get beer eventually … a “Baby Bear” was a normal bottle of wine (750 ml), and a “Papa Bear” bottle of wine was one of those big jugs (4L). It was just HORRENDOUS!!!
My date is my first day clean!
My last drink before I set the timer on the app. It was a little past 7am. I had about a half a glass of wine after I woke, decided I had enough and set the timer on and went back to sleep. The timer is still going.
Mine was from the moment i took my last drink, although i wasn’t exactly drunk then, i was driving to work so i was only partially drunk. I battled like hell for my sobriety from that second on. In the early days that shit really matters (the difference of a day) now, at least for me it doesn’t matter much.
