This is reset #19 for me. To be completely honest, I never thought I would make it this long. But here I am at 90 days. I celebrated my 50th birthday last week, and while it felt incredibly strange to celebrate it sober, getting through it showed me something important: if I can do that, I can stick to this. One day at a time.
Congratulations on your 90 days!! It IS weird at first celebrating life sober, but it becomes less weird and then normal as time goes on. Don’t give up on yourself. You know everything drinking offers, there is a whole new world to explore in sobriety, you deserve that. Wishing you all the best!!
You most certainly can do this !! Congratulations Staying stopped is very hard for an alcoholic. I’m betting your life has improved considerably in just 90 days. When life gets good for me, I tend to become complacent over time. I found it necessary to adopt a routine that starts upon awakening everyday. I ask for help from my higher power to simply stay sober and helpful. Recovery HAS to be my first priority because if I lose it, I lose everything eventually. I’m one drink away from misery. I need to be vigilant everyday. I pray for your continued success!!
Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! Since I’m still pretty new to this, I’ve been staying home and staying away from old playmates and playgrounds. Whenever the urge strikes, I channel it straight into exercise… definitely my new addiction for now!
