Day 1284! The only day that matters is today. Crushed a back workout and got a massive pump. Excited to spend the rest of my day outside with my lil dude! Hope everyone gets some serenity today. You all deserve it! Love you all.

@Matt I know it’s taken me a while to respond but… here I am! I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your advice. You (and everyone here) are truly so kind and uplifting! I plan on getting into a steady workout routine to hold myself accountable for and enjoy THAT progress. The reason I haven’t yet is that my son and I seem to be passing sicknesses around since the middle of April. I’m tired of feeling like crap and will hopefully be on the mend soon. Then I can get to it. I’ve had great success with weight lifting in the past. I hate cardio but about 9 years ago I did couch to 5k and trained for and ran my first 5k. It was exhilarating. I need exhilarating right now. But I need to get better first. My husband just joked and said " I bet a shot of vodka would help you feel better" I said " yea. Not gonna do it" he said " you don’t have control???" I said “NO I DO NOT”… He quit yesterday and made excuses to just drink a little today… some day he will see what I see. Until then I just have to be patient and support him. It’s been really hard… I’m really tired and know he is going to look back and regret all these years of no memories of when his only son was young. I’m so tired and stressed… I think thats why I keep getting sick. Al anon has opened my eyes a bit to not arguing and shaming but also not enable. I’m just going to live my best life and hope he will join me when he is truly ready. Sorry for the rant

You don’t have to apologize for sharing your experience, ever. Your experience and your perspective matters and it always will.
You are being so courageous with what you’re doing here. To look at the world and not live in what you wish it might be, but instead find stability and constructive opportunities in what it is (and is becoming) - that takes immense courage.
Speaking as someone who grew up with maybe not as much of my dad as I wish I’d had (he is and was a well intentioned man but there are some difficult experiences, not traumatic but not elegant), your son is gaining strength and wisdom and courage by watching you, and also by watching your husband. I know it is difficult and there may be times that what stands out is what’s not happening - or maybe, better to say, what could be happening and we think about that 
- but it is nevertheless a journey and like all meaningful human journeys, it has ins and outs and difficulties (and appreciations).
You’re doing good. You’re doing the right thing. Stick with it

Happy Loving Day in the usa. Before 1967 my husband and I wouldnt have been able to be legally married. We celebrate Loving Day every year in our house!
