Nice to see you my friend @SoberSassy. Kicking the sober thing hard :muscle:t2:

After getting sober, the next best thing I ever did for myself was to stop smoking. When I quit, I did start off by substituting the other legal means of putting something in my face, eating. I gained more weight than I ever had before, up to about 45 pounds at one point.

Two things came out of that. I started dealing with my anger differently, other than lighting up a cigarette or chomping down some food, and I started taking care of my body. It began with going to the gym that was offered as a free benefit from my job, progressed to running (I well remember the Rocky-like training I did to get to my first 5k!), then to running farther, then to triathlons. I had injuries that have forced me to recover and put racing aside for a couple of seasons, but I would much rather deal with Achilles strain than lung cancer.

Quitting smoking was essential for my physical health, and forced me to confront how my anger was making me depressed and afraid.

A pair of random days hitting only 70°f (winter weather for us) means daytime walks are possible.

Big hat, long sleeves.

My week off work has been all anxiety and stress so far. Exhausted upstairs.
Hopefully walk it out.

Do I smell bad?

There’s never anyone around when I’m on the beach  I took a shower.

More likely the others are at home nursing a hangover or busy getting buzzed.

@Smitty97 @SoberWalker @SinceIAwoke @JazzyS thank you all for the kind words and motivation. Ive been really working on bettering myself and I feel so accomplished. Going to set a physical goal here soon. Just trying to figure it out… im leaning towards a 5k. Thinking the local st patricks day one. Im apprehensive bc my heath issues seem to stir up in the winter. Im hoping it will treat me better this year. And ill be able to function a little better haha. Thanks again my peeps.
