Sober Selfies #20 (NO swimwear, shirts required, please review rules)

Big congratulations Zack on three years and your amazing changes and achievements! Your journey has inspired me many times and I’m always happy to read from you!

I’m sorry to hear about the disc and that you can’t do the meet. Injuries are a major humbler and a major pain in anyone’s ass. Especially when you have personal goals and put the work in.
What’s the prognosis, will it somehow heal or become tolerable on its own? will you be able to continue in your sport? Wish you all the very best with it all! :boar: :man_lifting_weights:

Thanks Jasmine. I always second-guess posting selfies but sometimes I just have to have no fear and post it !!

glad you did post. I totally get the fear of posting selfies. This is the one place that helped me get out of my picture taking shell. Sober life is amazing and we need to show how we shine in our recovery :hugs:

Sobriety for me means being here for my niece. And I commit to staying here.

That’s very true this place does help with that and with so many other things. I think that the way I see myself is not the way other people see me. And the way I think about myself is not the way other people think of me. I have to learn to flip my thinking to more positive. I’m a work in progress :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Getting a cortisone shot to relieve inflammation. Specialist says keep my weights lighter and do more reps so powerlifting is coming to an end and I will go for a shredded look instead of bulky and lift heavy unfortunately but I can still lift so that’s all that matters to me. As long as they can alleviate the pain I’ll be happy. Haven’t been to gym in over a month when before I was going basically everyday has definitely put me down in the dumps a bit. It really was my “therapy” so I’ll do as doctor says so I can be back at it after all this recovery time!

Aye im very glad to hear it’s not a ban on weights in general. Idk what I would do w/o just like you. And I got actual therapy also  I’ve come to a similar conclusion that in order to preserve my joints I better do more volume work also so I’ve been slowly integrating that and keeping the real heavy stuff to a minimum. Still can’t do anything over 10reps or I want to vomit but there has to be a balance right.
Wish you a speedy recovery from the inflammation and hope you can get back at it soon.
