Aww, thanks hun. I’ve gone blonde recently so it could be that  appreciate your super kind words :hugs:

Don’t forget religion! This one can be especially dangerous, as it can sometimes convince those who consume it that their worldview is more valid or righteous than that of others! Sometimes it can even convince people that certain colors may convey negativity instead of just being a color. Or that “the youths" are lost when, in reality, the kids are alright!

I have spent plenty of time around folks who wear symbols like the upside-down cross and wear black clothing. I have found that the majority of them have far more empathy and kindness in their hearts than those who would judge them for their garments or what art they choose to consume. The Johnny Cash song “Man in Black" does a pretty good job of capturing the general sentiment I have found that many black-wearing people carry, at least those that I have met in the US.

Point taken, though. People must be careful what they immerse themselves in, because the information we consume can shape our moods and worldview. If a person immerses themself in cynical information, they may become a cynic. If a person immerses themself in information which affirms their own self righteousness, they may become convinced of it

Have a wonderful rest of your day

Well, I understand what you are trying to say, but my answer would be both yes and no.

It is certainly true that there have been terrible cases witch involves members of many religious groups, and there are also many people who misinterpret religious teachings and information. For example, in the Christian tradition, we first need to understand the meaning of the word “Church” itself. Originally, it does not simply mean a building; it refers to a gathering of people united in the name of God, the Higher Power, or the Source.

I was involved with Buddhism many years ago, and I have also studied traditions connected to the Avesta. Both Buddhism and the Zoroastrian tradition preserved in the Avesta are among the oldest religious traditions of the East and the West leading back to Sumerian times and beyond. While they emerged after the Sumerian civilization, they were influenced by many ancient cultures and belong to a very deep historical heritage. Roots are deep (but thats a whole different topic).

The point I want to make is this: as I mentioned in my previous post, when a source of information has existed for thousands of years, the signal is strong. Even today, for example, our calendar is largely based on the life of Christ—we count the years as 2026 AD (“Anno Domini,” meaning “the Year of Our Lord”). When something remains present for so long, it can be viewed as a powerful signal of information or, in a more symbolic sense, Light shining into the world.

That same light—whether we call it the Holy Spirit, Higher Power, Source, or something else—can reach us in many different forms. It can come through an Ancient Tradition, a Sacred Text, a specific location, an unexpected encounter with a Stranger, a Coincidence, or even what we might call a Miracle. The form may differ, but the light itself can enter a person’s life in countless ways.

When discussing religions, we must also recognize that some of them have grown into enormous institutions that are difficult for us to fully comprehend. Naturally, wherever human institutions become very large, there will also be corruption, mistakes, and wrongdoing. That is simply part of human nature.

However, I think the more important question is the availability of the Light. Consider a gang member, a mafia boss, a depressed teenager, a sex worker, or someone completely disconnected from spiritual practices such as meditation, mantras, prayer, or the wisdom traditions of the Himalayas. Such people may live in difficult and dangerous environments, far removed from those teachings. Yet churches, religious communities, and support groups are often present almost everywhere. For some of these individuals, that first confession, conversation, meeting, or moment of genuine reflection may become the turning point in their lives—the moment when the light finally enters their hearts.

I appreciate your nuanced and thoughtful reply about your views. We seem to have some foundational differences of opinion on what constitutes “Light" and “Dark", morality, and truth, but I appreciate the good will with which you offered your thoughts, and I send that good will back at you.

Best Regards

I looked at your pic and got confused. Why would you have needed a beanie and WHERE ON EARTH (Lapland lol) would we still have had snow “3 weeks ago”?

Then it dawned on me. Not my brightest moment :person_facepalming:t2::sweat_smile:

Anyway, sobriety suits you!

I say this to myself during a ride, even if the wind is being rude or something else isn’t cooperating, so much better doing what I love. You’re in your element on that ride :bicycle:

Chanced a walk with some monsoon cells floating around. Had to take cover for a few minutes at one point, but ultimately got home dry-ish.
