Day 11
No pink today either, but a purple glittery scarf tied as a dikhlo. The gypsies version of a head scarf. This is a triangular version and in my opinion the easiest way to tie it. But what kind you use, and the way to tie it depends a little on wanted style and hair length.
Traditionally worn by married woman to show that they are married, or by unmarried woman to show that thay are unmarried. There’s a lot more to it but that would be a really long post. I just wanted to show you guys.

You don’t seem to wear the traditional outfit of Romanian/Gypsy women? They stand out in the crowd with their lush dresses with rich embroidery

I don’t, I’m a mix so I usually do as I feel regarding traditions and cultural attire
For what I know it’s mainly the Kalo (Finnish gypsies) that still dresses very traditional. Some of the Romanian have kept the clothing traditions as well, but there’s a difference between that way of dressing compared to the Kalo one as well. It’s a jungle I know. However I would dress according to our traditions if it was a big public event or a special holiday. But once again I’m a mix (A half-breed or Pashrat as it’s called in Romani) no side likes me anyway, so I just use what I like the way I like it anyway
Some traditions is however worth knowing or keeping so they won’t get totally lost. In today’s society I know only one Romani lady my age who dresses according to our traditions.

I had to do a proper comparison. I even dug out my grey polo.
