As a sober person on vacation, I now do stuff like check out lighthouses, rather then just hanging around drinking.
We love lighthouses, the Mrs and I. We even stayed three nights at the Saugerties lighthouse in NY. Was awesome.

My husband’s grandfather was the coast guard captain who oversaw the tenders there. He and his wife were responsible for getting the Saugerties lighthouse on the historical register and saving it from demolition. He was the light attendant at Turkey Point for 28 years.
When my husband’s grandparents passed away, we donated many items from their time there to the Saugerties lighthouse. Many of the items are on display there.
Wow, I had no idea there were so many lighthouse enthusiasts here - here’s another one! Easternmost point of USA.
That’s so cool. We really enjoyed it. I have a really funny story about picking up Chinese takeout in town, returning to the lighthouse walking a dark rainy path, only to realize the tide was coming in. Waded hip deep through brackish Hudson water to get back.
