Yo so uh, I’m on vay-kay and I’m bringing my girl back a box of rum cream filled chocolates. If I were to have one, or say a Tiramusu, would this count as a reset? I know it’s an insane question and way easy to over think but I was wondering what the popular consensus was.
Lol, Im sure its fine as long as your not washing it down with a bottle of wine or champagne.
I’ve had those before, the only danger really would be if it triggers your desire to drink. Smells and tastes can be a strong trigger to some.
Hope your having a fun sober vacation!
Oh it’s been great. I’ve been at a party and not felt the urge to drink at all. I’m three months and three weeks clean so I’m definitely pulling ahead. I fly back Monday and there’s no more big social occasions so I’m all clear for the duration. Thank you for the well wish.
I’m sure I’m sufficiently in control that I can enjoy one chocolate if offered and not freak out. Thanks for the advice.
I ageee, shouldn’t count against you. Enjoy the treat.
I count a reset as a loss of control. MOST of the time that requires no drinking at all but if my mother in law pours me a glass of red wine at our “once every few months dinner”… I don’t say no. I sip it very slowly and am very aware of how easy it is to lose control. Like @Naturehippy said… as long as it doesn’t make you want to drink more and you are comfortable with it than have one. Some people are on here to drink not one single drop.. some are on here to be more aware of their drinking… and some are on here to keep themselves in check to not drink to excess. If you won’t be breaking your goals… then do what you are comfortable with. If you’re overthinking it… then maybe pass? If you’re worried about your reset… then it depends on what your goals are! Good luck and happy vay-kay!!
Well said !!! . Stay in control
Well I made a cheese fondue that had white wine in it…I didn’t count that.
IDK, for me I just stay away from all alcohol tbh.
If you cook with wine, it cooks out the alcohol I believe. I wouldn’t eat a rum filled chocolate. But I’m an alcoholic, so I remain abstinent from all mind altering substances.
I say go for it, unless you think the taste could be a trigger. I like what @Gemstone123 said. A reset is a loss of control.
I’m with @Sophie23 on this. Personally, I won’t touch alcohol in any form because I take complete abstinence seriously. Also, I like to move boundaries so its dangerous for me to start allowing things that are on that line. I won’t even use alcoholic mouthwash or drink near beer (because many of them are 2% alcohol)
My sponsor gave me this advice and maybe I’m too stubborn to follow it. She even makes sure her vanilla extract doesn’t have alcohol in it. Hand sanitizer, mouth wash, lotions…anything with even a tiny bit of alcohol she stays away from. In my mind that’s extreme, but then the lady has 29 years so maybe she’s on to something…hmmm.
Of course you’re stubborn @Elisabeth. You’re an intelligent, recovering alcoholic that doesn’t like to be told what to do…
Join the club.
@Melrm Lol, wait, you mean I’m just like everyone else? Nooooo! Haha
Turns out I didn’t end up buying the chocolate anyway. Worth it for the debate though. Interesting perspectives. Keep fighting the good fight, folks.
If you really wanted the chocolates you would have bought them. You were just mulling over some thoughts in your mind but had no intention of buying the. Well done
