Sobriety in 2026

So had this app going on two years to help me keep track of my days and also journal on the go.

My sobriety date is August 11th 2024 almost 2 years. Which I never had. I am an active member of AA and do practice recovery also done/doing the steps suggested in the big book of AA.

I finally decided to use the community portion to not only help myself but hopefully others and connect with ppl wanting to do recovery and are doing recovery. All I can suggest based off my experiences is you truly have to be done with drinking and using. In order to start doing recovery. The willingness, the honesty, the humility and most importantly having a power greater than yourself to call upon. Cause there are gonna be moments when you need that power greater than yourself.

I did my first prison term and that was my bottom. I got out with the mindset of I need to change. This can’t be my life anymore. So I got out. Like they say got busy. Went to my local meeting club. Got a sponsor the same day and started doing these steps everyone was talking about lol.

As time moved on and I started to dive into the big book and steps I started noticing little changes in my attitude on life, my actions, my thoughts and my reactions on ppl, places & things. Doesn’t mean I didn’t slip up I’m human not perfect. But I stayed sober! Got connected back with my God. My faith is a key part in this story.

As time moved on I noticed now I’m more present mind, body and spirit. Better father, better employee, better friend, better son, brother and partner in my relationship.

I discharge parole early. I get promoted at work to where I get the keys to the building now open up lol. I go to court for full joint legal custody of my daughters and do it all self representation. The judge and court granted me it.

I am wanted/invited around family events. In my brothers upcoming wedding. I can now do life on life’s terms sober and process all life can throw at me and my emotions sober. I have gather some tools to put in my toolbox to get out whenever I need to fix or go to work in my life. My life isn’t perfect no one’s is but it is better than what it use to be and that is cause I truly had the willingness to ask another man/person for help that literally did the same as me and the person who helped him did the same before him.

So I say all this to say if your truly done and truly Wanna better design of living cause this is what it is a better way to live life Doesn’t mean you’ll get him, her, them, it, back instantly or even ever cause of all the damaged we have done but I can promise you, you will Get YOU BACK. The way God truly has created you for. You will find yourself and learn to love yourself and life even when life might suck lol. Life is beautiful and short. I hope you all can find yourselves and wish you all the best in this journey we call LIFE!

That’s quite a testimony, thank you! I got sober on a felony charge also, and AA was the perfect program at the right time for me as well.

Steven, I have been sober since March 2021. I used this app and connected with others and began my journey to sobriety. I don’t stop by much anymore, but today I did. Yours was the first post I read. What a wonderful story of success attained by seeking the help needed to stop the madness. Your story helps me commit to my own sobriety. Like a boost of encouragement. Thank you and God bless.
