Hi, I just realized this morning after reading my comment again that my words could possibly be read as making light of a meaningful piece of jewelry, I hope it wasn’t taken that way – it certainly wasn’t my intent
I wondered a little tbh, but no worries there. One of my ‘work ons’ is being okay with things as they are. All good!!
I could tell the words brought up a memory for you and that you enjoyed sharing it! That is a positive to me!
So, I realized I only has a picture of the back (the second one) so took one of the front. Got this right around year 2.5. I bought a bracelet around my 1 year, but I would get rashes from it so don’t wear it anymore.
Also bought some rings that have become my anxiety coping toy and have come to represent my recovery.
So no, I don’t have any.
Had to edit. Don’t know why the first picture of the rings was messed up.
Very nice. I have a couple spinning rings or “stress rings” I bought one with the serenity prayer when I first sobered up. But I lost so much weight from quitting drinking that it won’t fit at all now.
Love the spin rings, but same as you, the one I had no longer fits. I tried on my thumb as well, but falls off too much.
Not sobriety per se, but love the analogy of a lotus flower blooming out of the mud to represent struggling with alcohol.
Thanks for featuring this topic in your profile @Nanuk1987 Steve. I’m not a jewelry guy, but you made me think of this gift I got from my dear friend in Texas who I met through a quit smoking website six years ago. Quitting smoking is what started my journey towards recovery. She gave me this silver key ring, the anchor engraved with NOPE (not one puff ever), the mantra that anchored my quit from smoking. Forever grateful to her and to all my smoke free friends from back then.
Ok, don’t laugh, but here is my sobriety “jewelry”. It is a length of linen cord from my grandfather’s workshop. I have worn it continuously since after relapsing and, since it is made of linen, it slowly disintegrates over time. Its purpose is to remind me of the impermanence of everything as it slowly evaporates thread by thread. Kind of like Tibetan prayer flags, I guess.
Not laughing here. I think it’s a very nice memento Icebear. Good idea.
Not sure if I’d classify a dog as jewelry, but it’s nice!
She’s so nice
I hit 16 months sober on the 10th and decided to get myself a gift. I’m super in love with my sobriety ring.
Let see your sobriety jewelry! Or even sobriety tattoos!
That’s awesome! I plan on doing the same thing!!
No worries
One one the keys! That’s a great idea. I love it!
