Sobriety milestone

Today marks 5 years of sobriety for me. Whoop whoop. 5 years ago today I got a DUI. At that point in my life I really didn’t think I had a problem. I live in oregon, thankfully they offer diversion. While in diversion I had to really dig deep, boy did I. It was during this time that I learned not only that I had a problem but I also understood why I drank. I also learned what having a drink could mean for my future. Im an alcoholic and I’m wired differently. I feel super blessed today that I understand what works for me. I drank because I didn’t want to feel, I didn’t like who I was… today I love me and I am super proud!!! Cheers to sobrity

@Shelbydvorak81 thank you for sharing your experience strength and hope. There might be a newcomer to recovery reading your post thinking, “if she can get and stay sober, so can I!”.

What’s been your favorite thing about your recovery so far?
