Some days are easy, some are intense

Yesterday I woke up with the taste in my mouth for alcohol, I instantly thought to myself “this is withdrawal”

So I stayed in the house, I occupied myself, and allowed the feeling to pass. This is something I was unable to do in the past, I’d always just act on my impulse and go get a drink. 1 month and 11 days today and I feel better than ever.

My goal is to never drink again, and with the community, new hobbies, and an optimistic mindset, I know I got this.

Sobriety is a gift, it’s freedom from addiction, and that’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself

I like this and completely understand the feelings. Its also pretty awesome that you were aware of the impulse feeling and handled it by other means than just giving into short term temptation.

For sure, there are peaks and troughs, in recovery, in life. ‘This too will pass’ - this mantra can help sometimes when you are in a trough.
