Nice!! Sebago is gorgeous. I wasn’t too far from there.
There’s nothing worse than when you’re just a little cold for a long period of time. THE WORST! But we’re creeping closer and closer to those top down Jeep days.
Lol “aight then mane”, I know the neighborhood a little. I should say my former city because I recently moved about an hour away, but I grew up visiting and lived in Whitehaven for a few years. Still split my time between there and my podunk town but I’ve always had a soft spot for Memphis despite the flaws. You’re right about the food, people and music. Despite it being a less-than-incredibly safe city the people are usually super. And St. Jude is one of the few charities I will always donate to, there have been times I’ve been asked at the checkout to donate a dollar and even if that meant getting a smaller bottle in the worst of my addiction I never turn down St. Jude. They do absolutely amazing work. Glad they helped you too.
Its so nice, and a little surreal to meet people online that are from near or around places I know. Like SassyRocks here who grew up not far from where I spent my summers. I’m glad I decided to start posting here.
Dang, I lived in whitehaven! 10 minutes away from Elvis’s house. I would go to the Walgreens on Winchester and Elvis Presley BLVD all the time.
I moved to Connecticut for university and after I moved to NYC. Haven’t been back to Memphis in ages though
It’s MISERABLE. I can deal with the blast of cold if I’ve got to do something outside. But it’s the perpetually numb toes and fingers that just make me want to cry.
I was 2 minutes away from Millbranch and Holmes.
Do you remember the Yum’s Subs that used to be on Elvis Presley Blvd?
We actually spent a summer at Christian Brothers College in Memphis back in I think 1970/71. There was a program for science teacher’s (my dad) at the College. It was my first trip south. We camped all along the way down and back…stayed in the dorms all summer…hung out with kids from all over the country…it was pretty cool. We did that a few summers. I had never been so warm in my life. We about lived in the pool on campus.
Nah I don’t remember, when did that close down? Maybe I it happened before my time. Yooo, my accent is coming back out as I’m replying to you
And I know Holmes and Millbranch, I used to drive that way when I was heading to Southaven to go to the Best Buy. And the Whitehaven library was my spot and that was on Millbranch too
Hahahaha welcome to the Memphis humidity. It’s just nasty
