Hi there!! Congratulations on ur decision to get clean  Welcome to the community!

My husband and I also used together back in the day. When i decided enough was enough, i had to set some boundaries with him. It was tough, Im not going to lie. We often “fed off” each others energy. If one wanted to use, the other would give in. It became a bad cycle.

It ultimately came down to what I would do, if he chose to continue to use. And my decision was that I would have to leave to protect my recovery. Im not saying that this will happen for u. But ultimately, living with someone who uses drugs is an incredibly tough situation to be in. Thankfully, my husband quit along side with me and we havent used drugs or drank for over 4.5 years.

Maybe, if he sees ur life improving, he will feel encouraged to quit also (which would be fantastic of course). But for now, its sooo important for u to focus on urself and ur recovery. Go to meetings, meet new clean and sober people, get lots of support, start new hobbies for urself, etc. Start building a life without drugs in it

Take it one day at a time. Youre worth a happy, healthy, sober life! :star:

Someone told me once you can’t tie your sobriety to your spouse’s. That you both have to walk your own path. Living with a spouse (the drinking buddy) makes early days harder but it can be done.

I ultimately, had to go on solo vacation, to get my feet under me. Which, I love to do anyways.

Read around! Go to meeting online, in person. Come up with a plan for when the cravings hit. Change up your routine. Go to bed early. Etc.. It will not be easy but it can be done!
